The Renewable Energy Technology Accelerator project, which commenced in September 2012 and runs to the end of December 2015, is comprised of a partnership of six companies; Atlantis Resources Corporation, IHC Engineering Business Ltd, JDR Cables Ltd, PDL Solutions Europe Ltd, Tecnalia and the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec).
The project aims to create economic growth in North East England by supporting companies with the development and commercialisation of innovative products and services targeted at the offshore renewable energy sector.
Project activity builds on the assets and capabilities and structured interventions developed by the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) in order to support high value growth companies in this sector and includes both technology transfer and investment support to encourage the development of novel products in order to support the growth of the industry.
Through structured interventions, the project supports SMEs in entering the market sector to positively impact across the offshore renewables supply chain. Additionally, the project addresses a number of thematic technology areas across the whole supply chain to accelerate cost reduction within the industry.
This project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Competitiveness Programme 2007-2013, securing £1,391,370 ERDF investment.
