William Rickett, C.B. is a Director of Eggborough Power Ltd, Cambridge Economic Policy Associates Ltd and Impax Environmental Markets plc.

From 2006 to 2009, he was Director General, Energy in the Department of Energy & Climate Change. He had previously been a Director General in the Department for Transport, the Cabinet Office and the Department of the Environment.

He started his civil service career in the Department of Energy in 1975 and, among other things, led the team privatising the electricity industry from 1987 to 1990.

He was Private Secretary to the Prime Minister from 1981 to 1983 and also spent two periods on loan to the private sector.
