Narec - Narec is increasingly recognised as the national centre for the UK dedicated to accelerating the deployment and grid integration of renewable energy and low carbon generation technologies, utilising offshore wind, wave, tidal, solar PV and thermal power.
Flexible space inside
The new custom built facility offers added flexibility and projects completed thus far include:
- RIV testing on overhead line insulators
- Temperature rise testing on circuit breaker panels
- Impulsing transformers and subsea connectors
- Leakage tests on live line ropes (and fireman’s axes)
- PD testing on CVTs
- Back-to-back load testing of transformers.
Our main areas of expertise are in relation to the type and routine testing and certification of: switchgear, transformers and bushings, including measurement transformers, power cable technologies, HV insulation systems and materials, and system operation and power quality issues.
