Narec is investing £50k in a new FARO arm for the Blade Test 1 facility. This device will significantly speed up the process of test preparation by enabling 3D measurement of the blade in a matter of hours and will ensure that procured testing components are made to the exact dimensions of the test piece.
A 3D scanner will also be deployed during testing to show the displacement across the surface of the blade and this will provide a more comprehensive testing report for clients.Narec has or anticipates orders for the testing of three blades this year in the facility and is discussing testing programmes with clients for 2012.
