NaREC is fostering the growth, development and commercialisation of new and renewable energy technologies, creating opportunities for the UK, and the North East in particular in this emerging industry. One of our aims is to establish a vibrant and thriving new and renewable energy economy in the North East. Success will create skilled jobs, new enterprises and new initiatives in the North East of England.
NaREC is building a cohesive regional development and commercialisation infrastructure that offers an attractive environment in which to do business and compete in global energy markets. We are investing in the growth of the region by enabling regional companies to accelerate their growth through structured support programmes.
NaREC is rebuilding the region's position as the powerhouse of Europe by providing new century solutions for a new set of energy challenges.
NaREC's Work with One NorthEast
NaREC was set up and is currently funded by One NorthEast, the regional development agency for the North East of England. NaREC helps to promote the Agency's plan to create wealth by raising productivity and to place universities at the heart of the region's economy. Energy is one of the three economic growth areas - or pillars, that present the greatest opportunity for the future development and prosperity of the North East region and NaREC is at the core of this approach.
