NaREC announces plans for a substantial enhancement to their existing test facilities
The facility will be located at the NaREC headquarters in Blyth, Northumberland and is intended to further extend NaREC’s existing capabilities in research, development and test in renewable technology areas. On completion of the project NaREC will be able to extend their capability and deliver a world leading service to the renewable sector. The facility will consist of two dynamometer type test stands that will be used to test all elements of turbine drive train equipment up to and including full nacelle units. The larger of the two test stands will be capable of driving up to 15MW of power into the device under test and will also be fitted with additional, innovative Mechanical and Electrical test facilities aimed at providing exhaustive test regimes to R & D, prototype or production modules. The plan has been divided into two separate projects (supply of buildings / infrastructure and supply of test stands) that are now displayed on the “Tenders Electronic daily” website.
