World's largest blade testing facility
NaREC’s proposed wind turbine blade testing facility will use advanced, world leading testing techniques developed by NaREC’s own independent blade testing specialists. Expansion of NaREC’s existing blade testing facility for blades up to 70m in length, the new facility will be able to test 100m blades.
Activities will include:
■ Dual Axis testing
■ Quicker full life fatigue testing
■ Composites analysis
■ Damage assessment for blade construction materials
■ Blade and mould integrity inspection
NaREC’s unique ‘Dual Axis’ testing technology creates more realistic conditions for
blade testing, more comparable to in-field conditions by testing blade response and
behaviour in both the horizontal and vertical axis at the same time.
