ASPIS - Active Solar Panel Initiative
- Jan 2009 to Jan 2012. Total Project Fund - € 3.8M
- Multi-national EC Framework 7 program 3 year research and development project
- Project partners :- Fraunhofer IPA, AIT, Narec, ACI ecotec, Heriot Watt University, Solecta, IMOS
- Project Objectives
- Design, development and prototyping of novel parallactic tracking solar module
- Development and verification of cost-efficient manufacturing techniques and dissemination of knowledge among EU manufacturers
- Narec achievements to date (as of Nov 2009)
- Extensive cell design and demonstration of over thirty novel cell options for the application
- Initial silicon cell technology produced for prototype modules
- DOE experimentation completed into emitter, laser and BSF effects on cell performance
- Concentration testing and characterisation of initial technologies
