Other electrical testing facilities

HV/MV cable type Testing: Impulse, Dielectric (AC and DC), partial discharge, thermal cycling, high current and water blocking testing carried out on power cables.

Ageing tests: Accelerated ageing at high voltage, voltage endurances and thermal cycling, humidity and thermal ageing.

High current test facilities and capabilities: ASTA accredited test facility, 6kA and 8kA (3 ph, 50 Hz) test rigs for thermal testing. Tests performed on insulators, arresters, bushings, switchboards, cable terminations and all associated equipment.Transformer testing:

Transformer and reactor single phase AC withstand and impulse testing, including oil analysis and refurbishment.

LV testingPower analysis from 1W to 5MW, voltage and current harmonic analysis to 99th harmonic, pre-compliance testing for EN61000-3-2 harmonics, EN61000-3-3 flicker.

Micro generation: Certification testing for micro generation and inverter technologies, e.g. ER G83 and ER G59 compliance testing. Custom built LV laboratory to undertake research and development addressing the issues associated with how power generators interact with networks.

Test facility for electrical rotating machines and drives:  Regenerative loading capability, variable speed motor drives, motor loading capability to 100kW, variable speed DC Drives, inrush current testing, dynamic loading capability
